‘On the Water’

Choir member Robin Johnson
Chiswick Choir is delighted to announce our 2021 Choral Composition Competition to be funded by a legacy from Robin Johnson, who was a long standing member of the Choir. Throughout his life, Robin had connections with the sea, sailing and the river Thames, so we have chosen the theme ‘On the Water’.
The competition brief is for a choral piece lasting between four and five minutes. It should be for mixed choir accompanied by piano or organ. Composers can choose their own text, which may be sacred or secular in content.
A shortlist of competition pieces is now being drawn up and will be performed by Chiswick Choir in their concert on Saturday 3rd July 2021 at 7.30pm at St Nicholas Church in Chiswick. It will be conducted by our Musical Director Hilary Campbell and accompanied on the organ by Ben Lewis-Smith. There will be a 1st prize of £1,000 and a 2nd prize of £500.
We are delighted to have Cecilia McDowall and Stephen Jackson as adjudicators.
** If Coronavirus restrictions still apply, this concert might have to take place behind closed doors with a recording made available after the event.**
Although the closing date for entries was March 22nd 2021, there are more details about the Competition here.
